The Fighting Ground Theme

It was June 16, 1775 as colonel William Prescott and his men at Bunker hill protecting it from the British. The British line up with their cannons and soldiers they fire 2 or 3 Americans were killed. The Americans fire killed 4 British. British fire, kill 5 Americans. Americans turn, the Colonel says fire. They missed. The British shot one more time and shot down the rest of the men. We have lost the battle but the war is not over. The book I am reading is called the Fighting Ground by Avi. The theme of this book is effects of war.

One story that looks at the effects of war  is The Fighting Ground. That is the theme because a young thirteen year old boy left his home to go fight in the war. He fought in the war to fight for their independence from the UK. When he leaves, his family is sad to see him go. As the church bells ring he runs to see the British but instead of the British it is the hessians(A group of hired Germans to go terrorize  towns).

Another story that has the effects of war theme is The Hunger Games. During the hunger games the main characters are fighting for their food and little of their independence such as the book The Fighting Ground. In both books they are also fighting for they’re families.

War has a lot of affects on families. When a family member leaves to go to war the family gets sad. During the war some families might get a call or a letter telling that whoever was in the war has got shot and killed. War can cause a lot of sadness in families.
